TORNADO (P) is an amendment consisting of phosphoric rock and magnesium silicate activated with sulfuric acid. TORNADO (P) contains 13% MgO and 20% CaO for a Ca / Mg ratio of 1.8.


Phosphorus is one of the essential elements known as greater to be required in greater quantity by the crops. TORNADO (P) contains 14% P2O5.

The acid causes small granules to form that eliminate the presence of dust and also generates a much greater surface area that makes the product more reactive.

Soils are frequently subjected to:

Fertilization with major elements (NPK).
Acid residual effect of fertilizers in general.
Effect of leaching of the bases and the own absorption of the plants.

These facts make that:

The pH of the soil decreases.
The exchangeable aluminum increases and the Ca and Mg cations decrease.

For this reason, calcium and magnesium-containing amendments should be regularly applied while removing the aluminum and maintaining a correct pH.

That is the goal of TORNADO (P): eliminate aluminum and correct pH

Magnesium (Mg) plays a very important role in the metabolism of plants, as it is the central atom of the green leaf pigment (chlorophyll) responsible for photosynthesis, and also fulfills functions such as:

Generator of certain enzymes
Participates in the synthesis and accumulation of carbohydrates, fats and proteins

The sulfate ion allows magnesium and calcium to have a deeper action.

Silicon (Si) is not an essential element for plants but its action is recognized by increasing defenses and resistance to withstand conditions of biotic or abiotic stress and to strengthen the structure of leaves and stems. The silicic acid formed, Si (OH) 4, helps to protect phosphorus and decreases its insolubilization. TORNADO (P) contains more than 20% assimilable SiO2.

The silicates present in our product are strong mixers of the interchangeable aluminum.

The amount of TORNADO to be used to eliminate the deleterious effect of aluminum and to obtain an appropriate pH is given by the following expression:

Tons per Hectare = Factor * [Al - (Al appropriate)], where Al is given in meq / 100g

Factor depends on the cation exchange capacity and the clay content, a conservative value is 2.

The appropriate aluminum level depends on the crop as some are more sensitive to aluminum than others. If its value is unknown its value can be taken as zero. (In the reference: values for several crops are found).


TORNADO-P was designed to meet the needs of the Colombian agricultural sector, our product mainly contributes phosphorus and trace elements (calcium, magnesium, silica and sulfur) that are deficient in most Colombian soils.

It is a product for direct application to the soil containing acidulated amendments to improve its solubility in the soil and thus increase the agronomic response as the plant assimilates them more easily. Its composed of:

Phosphorus is an essential component in plants that actively participates in most of the biochemical reactions of the plant: respiration, synthesis and decomposition of carbohydrates, protein synthesis, etc.

It is recommended to apply in the first stages of development of the crop, that is, from before sowing to flowering. From the Flowering nutritional requirements, as a norm fall especially for crops of short cycle. In the case of phosphorus with the exception of strongly acid soils where the flowering is higher, it is recommended to make a single application at the time of planting.

Calcium (Ca) is involved in cell growth, absorption of nutrients, activity of enzymes, transport of carbohydrates and proteins. It is essential in the stability of the membranes providing greater consistency to the tissues, for example causes greater firmness in the stem of the plant. On the other hand, it acts favoring the structural stability of the soil, improving porosity, tillage, nesting, irrigation, etc. A calcium deficit stops the growth of the plant and causes chlorosis, loss of chlorophyll.

The importance of Mg in plant life lies in its presence in the center of the chlorophyll molecule (without Mg photosynthesis could not be performed). It also acts as an activator of the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and also intervenes in the transport of phosphates. Mg is a moving element within the plant and is absorbed from the soil as the Mg + 2 cation.

Sulfur (S) is an essential constituent in amino acids (cysteine, methionine and cystine) that are involved in the production of chlorophyll, in protein synthesis and in the functioning and structure of plants. It is also a constituent of the coenzymes needed for protein synthesis. S is found in the thiamine and biotin hormones involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates. S is also involved in some oxidation-reduction reactions.

Silicon (Si) is absorbed by the roots to be accumulated in the epidermal cells that impregnates them in a thin layer (2.5 μm) and when associated with pectins and polyphenols in the cell wall can be effective barriers to the loss of water, cuticular perspiration and fungal infections. It is suggested that the association of silicon with the constituents of the cell wall makes them less susceptible to the enzymatic degradation that accompanies the penetration of the cell wall by fungal hyphae.

Under field conditions, silicon can stimulate growth and productivity by increasing the availability of elements such as P, Ca, Mg, K and B, by counteracting the antagonism generated in soils with high saturation of aluminum and iron.
